James + Allison || Anniversary Session

James and Allison were one of my 2015 wedding couples, and it's been so fun to watch them as they navigated engagement, wedding planning, first years of marriage and home buying!

I love getting to photograph my previous wedding couples AFTER their wedding day, as it's such a fun chance to catch up and hear the things that have grown them and made their marriage thrive <3

Relationships with my clients is truly at the heart of my business, and anniversary sessions with couples is such a great way to keep that relationship alive! but anyway... back to the real reason of my post ;)

Allison contacted me at the end of the summer to tell me that her and James were beginning to dream of starting a family! She had an idea for a very special session where she would surprise James with the news, WHILE I was taking pictures!! (talk about pressure!!!)

However, a few months later when she texted me the exciting news, timing couldn't have been worse - I was on my way to FLORIDA for a week! I texted back and said I hoped she could keep a secret! After what I'm sure was an agonizing 10 days later, I messaged James and Allison about modeling for a blog post about marriage for me - all the while secret texts flew back and forth between Allison and I!

After photographing for a few minutes, I told James and Allison that I wanted them to stand back to back and I was going to give them a chalkboard. I told them I wanted to write 3 words that described their spouse.
