I met Kellie and her family through a senior client of mine, and have been able to do several sessions with them! I did my first maternity session with Kellie and her husband Joel, as well as my first cake smash with little Jude. I am always so grateful and thankful for those who supported me and trusted me to capture their families, back when I was just beginning. 

For this session, we met on a cold spring day with a thunderstorm hanging low above us. The dark grey skies made for vivid grass and trees, and we managed to finish just moments before the deluge started!

And, we can never have too many goldfish breaks :)

The last few cherry blossoms clung to the trees despite the brisk breeze flying through the park.  

Ohh, those grey skies! 

A few days after our previous session, we met up again to snap a few pictures with their cousin as a surprise for Grandma! Each of the grandkids had a t-shirt from Grandma's favorite team :)

Lucas and Brittani contacted me last fall about doing their 2014 wedding and engagement pictures. Our first engagement session took place on a cool and gloomy day, so a few weeks later it worked out to get together again during a sunny spring day. 

Lucas and Brittani have been together a LONG time - 7 years! They are SO excited to get married, and I can't wait for their wedding!

The {Willson} family {spring} 2014 || tree branch photography :: des moines, ia photographer

Lyla's family has been one of my "regulars" and I couldn't wait to see them again this spring! This time, we worked together with Becca's two sisters {Kathy and Elizabeth} and her nice Teegan {who just happens to be Lyla's best-ist friend ever} to make a super special Mother's day present for Lyla's grandma. 

We started out in the downtown area...

Seriously, every time I think "surely, she can't get any cuter..." but she always does ;) 

Becca and Andy are able to arrange their work schedules so that most of the time, Lyla is either with mom or dad. {except for this summer, when I actually get to spend some time with Lyla when becca and andy both need to work. Super excited about that!} You can definitely tell Lyla gets to spend lots of time with her parents, because they are her favorite people :)

I've often said Lyla is a mini-me, {she reminds me so much of videos and pictures of myself at her age!} and her love of books confirms it! two peas in a pod, we are :)
